Wessel's Wisdom
My favorite professor from graduate school, Henry Wessel, always has the perfect words to describe what it means to be a photographer.
"In a still photograph you basically have two variables, where you stand and when you press the shutter. That’s all you have."
His words are often matter of fact but are so genuine and passionate, always unveiling something quite inspiring. His actions are based a pure response to what he is seeing and the reality that what is before him is fleeting. "Photography is the ordering of chaos." For more of his contagious artistic enthusiasm look at this video made by KQED's Spark.
